The Chamber presented the vision on further development of customs policy in Ukraine

The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine held a presentation of the brand new publication “Guidelines for Customs Policy in Ukraine” prepared jointly with experts from a Chamber Member Company — EY Ukraine.

The main objective of this document is to present the vision of the business community on the current state and further development of customs policy and customs affairs in Ukraine to the responsible state authorities.

The Chamber Customs Committee, together with experts from EY Ukraine, conducted a survey containing more than 50 questions about 12 customs-related aspects. The summed up results of the survey shaped the core of this publication. The Guidelines include not only an analysis of received responses, but also an expert component with examples of international best practices and practical recommendations that could resolve problematic issues described in the publication.

“Issues of customs policy and customs affairs are in the focus of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine. Seventeen years ago we established the Chamber Customs Committee as a platform for dialogue with state authorities to develop a simple, fair and modern customs legislation that is in line with international best practices. It is very important for us to work together with our partners from business associations, state authorities and expert community on the development and enactment of effective steps for successful implementation of customs-related reforms, inter alia automation of customs procedures and development of the e-customs concept, improvement of customs formalities and risk management system, ensuring the availability of information on customs issues, reform of procedures of appeal against the decisions of customs authorities, and improving the procedure for paying customs duties”, commented Tetyana Prokopchuk, Vice President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine.
