Mentality Change

In the world the term “intellectual property” encompasses a diverse range of areas and industries — from rather general ones like patents, trademarks, copyright, to extremely specific ones like protection in the social media or domain names.

Today, business owners in Ukraine are much more cautious in terms of IP assets and their security, possible infringements and protection. These standards have been brought by foreign investors, who introduced a culture of IP management into business practice. Cross-border IP issues and international commitments are the logical outcome of internationalization and Ukrainian membership of the WTO. This gradually changes the mentality of decision makers, bringing them to understand that IP is an instrument for winning competition and growth. However, it is not rare when the topic is approached in case of serious problems when infringements are already in place.

Our contributors prepared a portion of Ukrainian IP breaking topics. These include dealership practice, software protection, service inventions, life science and others.

During the discussion panel, we will address the issues of asset security that are most relevant for today, namely, preventing raiding and fraudulent bankruptcy schemes.
