Wolf Theiss represented QBE on sale of its insurance operations in Ukraine

Canadian insurer Fairfax acquired the Ukraine business of Australian insurance company QBE. Wolf Theiss advised the sell-side. Following clearance with Ukrainian regulatory authorities and completion of other customary closing conditions, the transaction for the sale of QBE Ukraine to Canadian insurance group Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited was closed at the end of October 2015.

QBE's Ukrainian business was established in 1998 as the first international insurer operating in the country. From a standing start, the Ukrainian operation built a business that, in 2014, generated profits in a range of general insurance classes, including motor, property, marine, general and product liability.

The Wolf Theiss team was lead by Taras Dumych, the managing partner of the Kiev office, and included senior associate Oksana Volynets and associates Anna Kvederis and Olena Kravtsova.
